Best Bakeries in Salt Lake: 6 Local Spots for Pastries, Bread, and Sweet Treats

Maybe it’s just me, but there’s nothing a good pastry can’t fix. And we’re lucky, because Salt Lake has some seriously amazing bakeries to choose from. Places you have dreams about, that you always want to take your out-of-town guests to, places you save your cheat day for!

Below are six of my absolute favorites. When I’m out showing houses or in between client meetings and I’m in the neighborhood, you can bet I’m stopping in.

Gourmandise

Gourmandise has been a Salt Lake staple for decades, and it still feels special every time you walk in. The pastry case alone is worth the visit. It’s packed with beautifully made cakes, tarts, and French-inspired desserts.

The pistachio croissant with raspberry filling is unreal. The lemon cake and cookies are solid every time. You can also grab savory dishes, coffee, and sit down for a full café experience.

Kyung’s Bakery

Kyung’s Bakery blends Korean-style desserts with classic French pastry technique, and the result is lighter, less sugary treats that still feel indulgent. The quality here is next level.

The soufflé cheesecake is a must. The crepe cake is light and layered perfectly. The egg tarts have smooth custard and flaky crust. The melon bread and coffee bun are also strong picks, especially warmed up.

TOUS les JOURS

TOUS les JOURS brings a French-Asian bakery concept with a huge variety of fresh baked goods made daily. The display cases are packed, and it’s easy to walk out with more than you planned.

The strawberry cream cake slice is soft, creamy, and always a crowd favorite. The blueberry cake and mango cloud slice are light and flavorful. The almond croissant gets a lot of love, and for good reason. It’s flaky with a rich almond filling that hits every time.

Tulie Bakery

Tulie feels like that elevated neighborhood bakery you’re proud to have nearby. The focus is on high-quality ingredients and well-made French-inspired pastries that rotate with the seasons.

The pain au jambon, rustic fruit tart, lemon bar, and chocolate bouchon are all solid choices. The cardamom muffin and buckwheat cocoa cookies are local favorites. If you’re there on a weekend, try to grab the fresh beignets before they sell out.

Karim Bakery

Karim Bakery is worth going out of your way for. This family-run Middle Eastern bakery makes fresh Lebanese pita bread daily and supplies restaurants around the city.

The baklava is a standout. The cream puffs and savory manaeesh are also excellent. Grab some fresh pita and hummus while you’re there and you’ve solved dinner.

Beardall’s Bakery

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBx6qw_FyEZ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Beardall’s Bakery feels like a classic bakery in the best way. Big portions. Solid variety. You walk in and immediately want one of everything.

The donuts are a local favorite, thickly frosted and generous. The eclairs are filled properly and finished with rich chocolate icing. The cinnamon swirl bread and orange rolls are also strong picks. If you want comfort baked goods without the boutique price tag, this is your spot.

These are the bakeries I really go to. Not a “best of” list I found online. These are the stops I make between showings, after inspections, or when I have ten minutes to kill and want something good.

If you’re new to Salt Lake, start here. If you’ve lived here forever, you probably already know a few of these and should try the rest. And if you’re out house hunting or checking out a new neighborhood, this is an easy way to make the day better.

Good pastries. Good coffee. Good excuse to explore more of the city. That’s a solid plan.
